About Me
My name is Spencer Spoors, I am 49 years old, I have been an Aviation Specialist Firefighter for 29 years serving in the Royal Air Force and Ministry of Defence. For the last three and a half years I have been part of the management team running the Fire Station at Newquay Airport (ex RAF St Mawgan).
I live in St Agnes on the North Cornwall coast with my wife of 28 years, Sharon. I have two adult sons - Adam, a college lecture in chemistry and David a Royal Air Force Policeman. I also have two grandchildren, Noah (4 almost 5) and Phoebe (1 almost 2) wonderfully produced by Adam and my daughter in-law, Amy.
Both my parents, Harold and Jackie live in Cornwall and can be found gallavanting with their friends around Gweek near Helston. My brother, Simon and sister, Samantha both live in Bedfordshire which means that I don't get to see them nearly as much as I would like.
I am fortunate to have a good buch of mates, the foremost of which has to be Mick whom I have known for 22 years and is now so much part of my family. We served in the RAF together in the early 90's. Mick left the RAF to pursue a carreer with Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and has been a Firearms and Traffic Cop for many years now.
A large part of my social life is taken up with my membership of a Masonic Lodge in St Agnes, I know that some people have a very biased view on Freemasonry but down here in Cornwall it is just a group of like minded people enjoying each others company and trying to do some good. We have no secrets that cannot be discovered by a quick search on the internet, I have never seen any corruption or abuse of priviledges. I have been a member now for 19 years and I am proud to say that I am a Freemason, I have never hidden that fact and now I am able to raise money for Masonic charities through my participation in fitness challenges. Freemasons support a huge number of charities among which are the RNLI, Air Ambulance and Help for Heroes just to name a few. We do not tend to blow our own trumpet, but are generally happy to provide funds quietly in the background.
